We launched Peter Bedford’s (PBHA) service in Newham last week with an open house event where funders and local partners joined PBHA Board members and colleagues to celebrate this milestone. With support from the Greater London Authority and Social and Sustainable Capital, PBHA is purchasing and refurbishing 21 one-bedroom homes across the borough for single people at risk of being homeless. Once housed, Peter Bedford will support the tenants to manage their home and find move-on accommodation for the longer term.

Partners such as St Mungos, LB Newham and Anchor Caritas were impressed by the standard of the refurbishment and furniture provided. We worked with other partners such as Red Loft, Pellings and Devonshires LLP who were pleased to see the fruits of their work.

Clare Norton, Peter Bedford CEO said “We were looking to help more people out of homelessness after a long period where Peter Bedford had not been able to offer more homes. We are really delighted to be able to provide more homes in Newham, a neighbouring borough that had high homelessness needs. Working with partners such as SASC and the GLA has been such a positive experience. It is our hope that we will continue this development programme and offer more homes across Northeast London.”
