Volunteer with Us

Volunteering at PBHA is a great way to meet people and develop or learn new skills, for tenants and participants, as well as members of the public.

We’re always looking for enthusiastic, positive and supportive people who’d like to join us in our mission to tackle social exclusion.

Volunteers can play a key role in helping tenants to build links with the local community, by providing them with opportunities to build their confidence and social skills in a supportive environment.

Volunteers’ Week 2022

To celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2022,  we’ve been busy catching up with our brilliant volunteers.

Volunteer Spotlight

“My volunteer role included a variety of tasks and longer-term projects to increase PBHA’s online presence as well as assisting with the corporate fundraising side.

The main long-term task was working on the website and different social media platforms, and this allowed me to develop my skills using programmes like Hootsuite, WordPress, and Canva. I’ve learnt a lot about the importance of brand awareness, which helped me write effective copy.

An important part of the social media strategy that me and my fellow intern, Alfie developed involved regularly monitoring our progress using Twitter analytics, and trying to identify trends using the various markers of interaction with our tweets. This challenged me to think analytically and evaluate our strategy.

One of the most enjoyable parts was interviewing some of the tenants and sharing their stories with our followers on social media. It was amazing to hear about how their experience at PBHA had enabled them to make truly positive changes in their lives, which I was able to share with our followers by creating the first ‘Humans of PBHA’ post on Facebook. This got particularly high engagement from people who had ‘liked’ our page, and the positive comments showed how sharing individual experiences of PBHA has the potential to resonate with our followers.”
