Volunteering is a rewarding way to learn new skills, develop existing ones, and connect with your community. Our volunteers share their varied skills and valued time to improve the lives of the people who use our services. Find out about our current volunteering opportunities below.
Please note, all of our volunteering programmes are currently remote (online/via telephone). We look forward to offering in-person opportunities when it is safe to do so.
Digital Champion
Our Digital Champion role is a fantastic opportunity for a person with good IT and communication skills who is interested in coaching and training. You will gain skills and confidence to support people who are digitally excluded to use a device and get online. You will receive expert training, support and supervision from our Training and Assessment Coordinator.
The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted how the digital divide risks leaving many members of society behind. As a Digital Champion, you will be matched with a local person who needs to develop IT skills for work, life and wellbeing.
You will learn and practice how to:
- Build an effective learning relationship
- Support your match to set goals effectively
- Equip your match with the skills and confidence to achieve their goals
- Follow a session plan and use good learning resources
- Provide useful feedback
A good Digital Champion has good IT and communication skills, and speaks English fluently. They are patient, reliable, non-judgemental, enthusiastic and resourceful. Additional languages are a plus!
