Our coaching and training services are shaped by the people who use them. We provide relevant, dynamic learning opportunities in partnership with other agencies. Our experienced team members and well-trained volunteers support participants to set and achieve effective goals. We nurture and promote positive, inclusive learning environments.

Those interested in signing up to a course can self-refer or be referred by a third party. We will then arrange an Information, Advice and Guidance session to find out about you, understand your goals, and enrol you on the course/s you are interested in. We really look forward to talking to you!

Adult Acting Classes

Tuesdays, 2pm-4:30pm 

17th May – 28th June

This is a fun and practical course that promotes the enjoyment of drama. 

  • Learn to use your body, breathing and voice to communicate confidently and clearly 
  • Develop skills and techniques that will enable you to connect with your playful, creative side 
  • Express yourself through games, improvisation and scripted work 

Resilience Coaching

Mondays, 2pm-4.30pm

13th June – 4th July

These sessions give you tools and strategies to absorb, manage and recover from difficulty feeling stronger, wiser and more able to move forwards. Resilience Coaching involves:

    • Breathing, yoga and movement
    • Creative exercises, like writing, drawing and other art forms
    • Mindfulness activities and reflective practices
    • Opportunities for group and individual coaching

DIY Course for Beginners

Mondays, 1:30pm-4pm 

Learn the skills & confidence to do basic home maintenance:

  • How to safely use common hand and power tools
  • Learn an easy way to build a shelf and fix it to a wall
  • Avoid paying for a locksmith with easy lock maintenance
  • How to patch damaged wood and install new skirting

Jobs Clinic 

Mondays, 11am-1pm 

This three-week course will equip you with practical, lasting skills to confidently apply for jobs. 

  • Workshop your CV 
  • Search and apply for jobs online 
  • Learn to write a great personal statement +/ answer long-form application questions 
  • Develop techniques to settle nerves and feel more confident 

Customer Service Training

This dynamic, inclusive course will prepare you to work or volunteer in customer-facing settings. 

  • Learn the GLIDE method of customer service, created to help you provide gold star service 
  • Apply your knowledge in our Make and Meet Space, which simulates a retail setting
  • Practice your skills at our Reception Desk, gaining real-life experience 
  • Receive a reference (available upon request after completing the placement)

Observational Drawing

Wednesdays, 2pm-5pm 

Drawing from life is translating 3D objects to 2D drawings on paper. You’ll experiment with a variety of techniques and materials by creating marks in different media. 

  • Practise getting shapes and proportion right using different techniques
  • Learn how to show depth with shading and use different techniques for showing texture and detail 
  • See beyond your habitual ways of seeing and develop new awareness 
  • Learn about composition

Money Management Clinic

Grow Your Financial Confidence!

  • Tailored support to gain maths skills
  • Improve your confidence to manage your money

We will help you with budgeting skills, credit and debt, and shopping smart. Our courses are designed with adaptability in mind, and sessions are tailored to suit learner needs.

You will also receive access to online courses around topics such as finding work or managing wellbeing.

Open to adult residents in East London with a minimum basic level of reading and writing.

Computer Skills for Work & Learning

Thursdays, 11am-1pm 

This course is for people who have some basic computer skills and want to progress to seek, gain and retain employment or progress to further learning. 

  • Brush-up your MS Word editing skills and learn to produce professional documents 
  • Learn about File Management and ICT terminology 
  • Learn about GDPR and online safety 

Information, Advice and Guidance

Map out your work and learning journey with support from a qualified, experienced adviser.

These 1-1 sessions, carried out over Zoom or in person, will help you to:

  • Explore and clarify your work and learning ambitions
  • Find out about the options and opportunities available to you
  • Develop skills that will benefit you in life and work
  • Build a sense of optimism and understand your potential

Open to adult residents of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham who are at risk of social exclusion, and all PBHA residents
