Annual Pride Celebration

Peter Bedford Housing Association Celebrated our 27th anniversary of Pride. This year’s London Pride campaign of #WeAreEverywhere focused on everyday Londoners who may not be in the headlines, but make an active difference to their community. At our Pride event this year, we shone a spotlight on Patrick Caffrey and Moira Hicks. Both are longstanding tenants who have been proudly waving the flag of LGBTQ+ rights. They have both been visible in the PBHA community through making a difference to the lives of other tenants, providing a welcoming and supportive space via the social lunch group, community kitchen and speaking up about their lived experiences.

PBHA has a longstanding history of allyship with the LGBTQ+ community. We have invested in further training for all staff in LGBTQ+ awareness, launched our pronoun badges, and are actively working towards establishing an LGBTQ+ focus group for tenants, staff and volunteers.

At our event we were joined by Claire from Stonewall Housing, who spoke about the history and struggle in securing safe LGBTQ+ accommodation. Aoife from Islington Forum+ attended our event for the second year running – many of our tenants access their services. Forum+ is an independent charity working to promote equality for LGBTQ+ people in Camden & Islington.
