Outpost, Peter Bedford Housing Association’s shop, gallery and community hub is delighted to host Thought Forms, an exhibition of works by multi-media art producer and PBHA tenant CECIL Nurse, from 1 October to 17 November.

The drawings in pencil, shared with the public for the first time ever, are selected from a series of over 600 images created 22-years ago, as part of a ‘Zen-influenced argument with life’. Reminiscent of Miro and Kandinsky, the drawings distil CECIL’s ‘thought forms’ into lyrical abstract compositions.

Members of the public can try out Cecil’s approach themselves at free workshops from 2-5pm on 11 and 25 October, led by artist Roman Manfredi. Open to anyone over 18, the drop-in sessions will use CECIL’s work as a starting point for exploring the possibilities of ‘automatic drawing’, a highly expressive form of image-making through music and form.

The Change Together project will be there too, opening up dialogue about mental health awareness, as part of a Time to Change-funded partnership between PBHA and Volunteer Centre Hackney to tackle stigma in North East London.

The exhibition coincides with Islington Exhibits, a month-long festival to promote art across the borough, led by Rowan Arts and London Metropolitan University with support from Islington Council.
