Outpost’s Volunteer Shop & Gallery Assistants Win Volunteering Team of the Year!

We are delighted to share with you the news that Outpost has won the Voluntary Action Islington (VAI) Volunteering Team of the Year 2019!

Outpost’s Lucy Hughes receives the award from Islington’s deputy mayor

The PBHA Outpost team has worked so hard to create a diverse, creative, and committed team of volunteers, and it’s a huge testament to the wonderfully inclusive work the Enterprise and Training team have been doing to create opportunities for volunteers.

The VAI panel making the decision said: ‘Thanks to this dedicated team of Volunteer Shop & Gallery Assistants, Outpost has been able to grow and thrive in a difficult economic climate. By sharing their time and expertise, volunteers also ensure the successful future of the enterprise by upskilling the rest of the team. The work they carry out has such a positive impact on so many people’s lives, by promoting the socially excluded artists and makers they work with, raising PBHA’s profile within the local community to generate support, and enriching the lives of staff, volunteers, visitors, and customers by challenging stigma.’

Outpost Assistant Manager Lucy Hughes said “VAI received so many nominations in this category that they awarded two high commendations in addition to a winner, so it really is a brilliant result for the Outpost team!”
