52 Hackney residents with learning difficulties and disabilities (LDD) were among the 64 people who boosted their basic skills with a course at Peter Bedford Housing Association (PBHA) in 2014, thanks to a partnership with the Hackney Learning Trust.

From basic literacy, numeracy and computing courses, to art, craft and design workshops, PBHA’s Vocational and Community Services (VCS) offers opportunities for adult learners in Hackney to build their skills in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Pam Frost, Head of VCS said: ‘Four-fifths of students who join our Hackney Learning Trust courses have learning difficulties and disabilities. We’re proud to be able to provide them with tailored support, and even more proud of their achievements.

‘Across PBHA, people with learning difficulties and disabilities continue to contribute their talents to the community, from making furniture in our joinery workshop, to mastering culinary skills in our canteens. The confidence gained by participants in our courses and activities is invaluable.’
