PBHA is working towards being accredited by Houseproud as a Pledge Pioneer Pledge Project | houseproud-lgbt.

The HouseProud Pledge is a scheme that all social housing providers (housing associations, local authorities and ALMOs) can sign up to to demonstrate their commitment to LGBTQ+ resident equality and support.  It has been developed by HouseProud and the University of Surrey in collaboration with residents, staff members and sector leaders to address the issues raised by the findings of ‘No Place Like Home?’, the largest study ever undertaken to understand LGBTQ+ experiences of social housing.

As part of bringing the pledge alive, PBHA’s Board has discussed and committed to the Pledge, we are promoting it through staff inductions and the PBHA website, staff have been trained in LGBTQ+i awareness, we are promoting the use of pronouns in communication to raise LGBTQ+i visibility, and we are aiming to set up a LGBTQ+i resident group to advise on how PBHA can improve its services.

Following staff training, we will also  review our Anti Social Behaviour and Harassment policies to be explicit about how we will respond to LGBTQ+i hate crime and discrimination, review our referral agencies to ensure we are working to tackle LGBTQ+i homelessness, and will review and update resident EDI data regularly.
