Peter Bedford Housing Association’s response to the Coronavirus outbreak

2020-03-17T18:45:29+00:00

Our intention is to minimise the impact of the escalating situation as much as possible. Inevitably, the situation will worsen in the coming weeks as the virus spreads across the country, causing widespread disruption and it will undoubtedly impact our services. We will make adjustments over the coming weeks and months, but the safety of our residents and staff remains our top priority. Yesterday, the Government advised how to reduce COVID-19 transmission. Here are the steps we are taking to protect everyone in this ever-evolving situation: With effect from Wednesday 18th March we are closing our hubs at Clissold and Isledon. Kingsland [...]

Clare’s Comments on the 2020 Budget

2020-03-13T10:35:35+00:00

We are very pleased to see a commitment to establishing a significant Building Safety Fund to remove unsafe materials from tall buildings. The broad commitment to remove “unsafe” materials is very welcome as this will remove some uncertainty where materials other than ACM pose a fire risk. Yet, how materials are removed from complex buildings which are not tall remains a question, as does whether there is any funding for interim remedial measures. The £500 million hardship fund for local councils to support the most vulnerable in their areas affected by COVID-19 is a very good idea, and we hope an [...]

Minister of State at Department for Work and Pensions visits PBHA

2020-03-09T16:21:48+00:00

Minister of State for the Department for Work and Pensions Will Quince visited our Hackney site at Kingsland Hub last week in a visit organised by Kate Henderson, CEO of the National Housing Federation. Will met participants of the Next Steps with Computers class and their tutor Richard Lackrage, and heard their experiences learning IT skills and their importance given that Universal Credit is claimed online. This was a good chance to show the government that we are helping the wider community, as well as our tenants, build skills for the future, as well as to claim welfare benefits. Ann, a [...]

Tenants and staff have been working on keeping our hubs safe, warm welcome spaces for mutual support.  Isledon hub has been needing a bit of TLC.  Tender Loving Care came in the form of a team of decorating apprentices from our External Decoration contractors Bell Group.   Big thanks to Rosanna, Janae, Connor and Tom who spent several days last week decorating Isledon.  It's looking great, thank you!

50th Anniversary: Party in the Park

2019-11-22T10:10:07+00:00

On Sunday 22nd September we celebrated our 50th Anniversary at a well attended Party in the Park. The celebration took place in Clissold Park as part of their 130th anniversary celebrations. We made our home on the old Bowling Green on a windy day with showers, which made it difficult to put up our gazebos, but with persistence we succeeded and the celebrations lasted all afternoon. We were delighted to see so many people despite the rain and the day did brighten up so we were able to eat lovely Caribbean food, take part in a quiz about 1969, and dance off some of the delicious anniversary [...]
