Waitrose ‘Community Matters’ fundraiser supports Outpost

Peter Bedford Housing Association is happy to announce that Outpost, our Holloway Road shop and gallery, has been chosen to take part in Community Matters, a fundraising scheme led by Waitrose supermarket. Throughout the month of January, Outpost will appear as one of three local charity Community Matters donation boxes at the front of the Holloway Road branch of Waitrose. Shoppers can vote for their favourite charity by putting a green token in the box. Street photographers showcase work at Outpost

A series of striking images of urban life in Hackney was on display at Outpost in September, showcasing the achievements of seven budding photographers on PBHA’s ‘Introduction to Street Photography’. The course, led by artist Roman Manfredi and funded by the Hackney Learning Trust, is one of many art and design courses offered by PBHA’s Creative Industries. The group explored street photography in a psychological and physical context, working with four main themes: shadows and reflections; people; shapes, patterns and texture; signs and symbols. Celebration of community quilt-making opens at Outpost

Peter Bedford Housing Association (PBHA)  opened its Community Quilt Exhibition together with community groups from Islington, Hackney and Tower Hamlets on 24 February. The show celebrates the work of local people who came together to make hand-stitched quilts through Whittington Park Community Association, Spitalfields City Farm , ActiveArt and PBHA’s Creative Industries. The quilts are on display at Outpost, PBHA’s community hub at 546 Holloway Road, until 5 April. Thought Forms: Artist’s hidden drawings revealed

Outpost, Peter Bedford Housing Association’s shop, gallery and community hub is delighted to host Thought Forms, an exhibition of works by multi-media art producer and PBHA tenant CECIL Nurse, from 1 October to 17 November. The drawings in pencil, shared with the public for the first time ever, are selected from a series of over 600 images created 22-years ago, as part of a ‘Zen-influenced argument with life’. Reminiscent of Miro and Kandinsky, the drawings distil CECIL’s 'thought forms' into lyrical abstract compositions. Gain customer service skills with a work placement at Outpost

From June, Peter Bedford Housing Association (PBHA) will provide customer service training to all tenants, participants and volunteers who undertake work placements at Outpost, our recently launched shop, gallery and community hub on Holloway Road.
