Our Vision

We believe that everyone should have an opportunity to take more control over their own lives and shape a brighter future for themselves.

We are intent on learning more and more about how to support people to overcome external and internalised barriers to achievement, success and inclusion in wider society.

We are committed to sharing our knowledge, learning from others in the field, and having a wider impact on the agenda for social inclusion

Mission

We exist to support people with long experience of social exclusion to take control over their own lives

Our Values

Respect: We strive to respect everybody for who they are, for their strengths and abilities, and for what they can contribute to community and society. We respect and celebrate difference and diversity and are committed to equal opportunities. We seek to ensure that we are representative of, and enriched by, all of the communities and groups of people we are here to serve.

Participation: We call people tenants and participants to
emphasise ownership and taking part and to counter the idea of people as passive recipients of services over which they have no control. We work alongside people, not for people and support people to take the risks associated with independence. We aim for everyone to take part, to have a voice, to be at the centre of their own planning and to influence us to improve choice and quality.

Supporting aspirations: We recognise that experience of discrimination and social exclusion has a negative impact on people's expectations and aspirations. We see it as our role to help people overcome internal and external barriers and support people to aspire and to achieve a better quality of life.

Environmental Responsibility

Peter Bedford Housing Association aims to act as responsible social landlord and keep its negative impact on the environment to a minimum. Sustainability measures include the reduction of waste in general and non-biodegradable waste in particular, promotion of recycling and composting, greener consumption and procurement, and transport and energy efficiency.

We actively seek to reduce the organisation's carbon footprint and work towards more sustainable environmental practices. We promote initiatives amongst staff, participants and tenants which help individuals and groups of people make their contribution to climate change as responsible citizens. We treat access to awareness and informed action on climate change as a social inclusion issue.
