Peter Bedford is an organisation which has been successfully including people in society for 36 years. Originally set up in the late sixties to provide work for ex-offenders on a self-help, mutual support basis, we are now a Registered Social Landlord offering supported housing, work, training and employment and community services. We work in Islington and Hackney alongside people who have faced long term exclusion from society through homelessness, mental health problems, learning difficulties, or multiple needs.

Peter Bedford was an 18th century Quaker philanthropist who worked in the East End of London to help people help themselves. We took his name to acknowledge the support we got from the Bedford Institute at outset. Although we no longer have formal Quaker links, we are proud of our origins. The values of respect, self-help, mutual support, and participation are as strong now as they were when we began.
